Jesus Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him

Jesus peace be upon him, was a Prophet of Allah, specifically sent to guide the children of Israel. Israel was not a place or a land, Israel is simply the name that the prophet Jacob (Yacoub in Arabic) was known by, this is why the jews are called " the children of Israel " as they are all descended from Israel's (Jacobs) tribe. Israel (Jacob) was the son of Abraham, peace be upon him.

Jesus went to give the children of Israel the message from Allah, as he was sent specifically to guide these people. His mother was Mary (Maryam) peace be upon her. There is an entire chapter of the Quran named after Jesus` mother Mary, as well as the grandparents of Jesus, the familly of Al-Imran.

Imran, peace be upon him was a pious man whose family chain linked back to the Prophet David, peace be upon him. It was due to the piety of the Imran family that Allah saved their generations from mischief and evil.

Imran's wife, Hannah bint Fakood alayha Salam, was unable to have children. One day after having seen a mother bird caring feeding young, Hannah had a strong desire to have children herself. This, however, was not even conceivable since she was beyond the childbearing age, and had been infertile in her younger years. Hannah prayed to Allah for a child, and Allah responded to his servant and answered her prayer. As soon as she felt the child's movements in her womb, she promised to dedicate the child to the service of Allah, in gratitude to Allah.

Hannah said, "Oh my Lord! I have vowed to You what (the child that) is in my womb to be dedicated for Your services (free from all worldly work; to serve Your place of worship), so accept this, from me. Verily, You are the All-Hearer, the all-knowing. 3:35

Hannah had desired a son as the tradition of that time was for men to take care of the places of knowledge and worship, but Allah knew ultimately what was best. Mary peace be upon her,was to be the first female caretaker of Beit AlMaqdis in Jerusalem. When Hannah delivered her child Mary, she said:

"Oh my Lord! I have delivered a female child," and Allah knew better what she delivered- "And the male is not like the female, and I have named her Mary, and I seek refuge with you (Allah) for her and for her offspring from Satan, the outcast." 3:36

Hannah took her daughter to Beit al Maqdis in Jerusalem as she had promised Allah, so that her daughter might be of the pious worshippers. Allah chose the prophet Zakariya, peace be upon him to be Mary`s gaurdian there, as he was the best among the people of that time.

"So her Lord (Allah) accepted her with goodly acceptance. He made her grow in good manner and put her under the care of Zakariya." Quran 3:37

Zakariya was a messenger of Allah and could convey great knowledge to Mary. In addition, Allah inspired Zakariya, peace be upon him, through the miracles Mary, peace be upon her received.

Mary ,peace be upon her was in a place of seclusion in beit al Maqdis and Zakariyyah was the only one to see her and bring her what she needed ,however when he arrived he saw that already she was provided with food and not only that but she had foods that were only known in summer when it was winter, and in the wnter months she was provided with foods that grew only in summer.Zakariya, peace be upon him was astonished.

Every time that he entered (her) chamber to see her, he found her supplied with sustenance. He said: " O Maryam! From where have you got this?" She said, " From Allah, Verily Allah provides sustenance to whom He wills, without limit." 3:37

Through the story of Mary peace be upon her,we see clearly that Allah`s power is limitless and he reigns supreme over all things and our complete trust should be placed with Allah alone. As Mary, peace be upon her was praying the angels came to her and

"And mention in the Book (the Quran) Maryam (Mary), when she withdrew in seclusion from her family to a place facing east. 19:16

"She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent to her our Ruh (Angel Gibril), and he appeared before her in the form of a man in all respects." 19:17 Quran

"And (remember) when the angels said: "Oh Mary! Verily, Allah has chosen you, purified you (from polytheism and disbelief), and chosen you above the women of the Alamin (mankind and jinns)." 3:42

(The angel) said: "I am only a Messenger from your Lord, (to announce) to you the gift of a righteous son."19:19 Quran

Mary said:

"How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, nor am I unchaste?"

Mary peace be upon her was so suprised to hear that she would have a child when she was not married, and so the angel Gibriel said to her.

"So (it will be), your Lord said 'That is easy for Me (Allah) and (We wish) to appoint him as a sign to mankind and a mercy from Us (Allah), and it is a matter (already) decreed, (by Allah)" 19:20-21 Quran

The Angel Gibril told Mary, peace be upon her that she had become pregnant by the decree of Allah. Allah says In the Quran

"And she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a far place."

At the time of childbirth, she went to Beit Lahem, which is present day Bethlehem. The pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm-tree. She said:

"Would that I had died before this, and had been forgotten and out of sight!" "Then (a voice) cried unto her from in front of her, saying: "Grieve not! Your Lord has provided a water stream in front of you." "And shake the trunk of palm-tree towards you, it will let fall, fresh ripe-dates upon you." "So eat and drink and be glad, and if you see any human being say: 'Verily! I have vowed a fast unto the Most Beneficent (Allah) so I shall not speak to any human being this day." 19-22:26 Quran

The word balah in this ayat describes dates in their ripe stage, which have been proven medically to ease the process of childbirth. She shook the tree and then ate the dates and drank from the stream, and her baby was born.

"Then she brought him (the baby) to her people, carrying him." When the people of the town saw Maryam carrying baby Jesus allehi salam, They said: "O Maryam! Indeed you have brought a thing Fariyya (an unheard mighty thing). "O sister of Harun! Your father was not a man who used to commit adultery, nor your mother was an unchaste woman." 19:27-19:28 Quran

The people accused Mary, peace be upon her, and ordered her to speak up. She could not speak, as she was so horrified that people would accuse her of not being chaste, when indeed baby Jesus peace be upon him was a miricle from Allah. Mary pointed to the baby Jesus, peace be upon him, meaning that he would answer, they were astonished.

"They said: How can we talk to one who is in the cradle, a young boy?" Jesus peace be upon him answered them by saying, "I am the servant of Allah." "And he (Allah) has enjoined on me prayer, and Zakaat, as long as I live." "And (to be) dutiful to my mother, and made me not arrogant, unblest." "Peace on me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!" 19:29-19:33 Quran

Even though the people had heard and seen Jesus speaking, although he was just a small baby they refused to believe it, and they still accused Maryam of being dishonourable. They denied the might and power of Allah. The next ayat shows clearly the might and greatness of Allah the almighty, a son is something that is born only to a human and Allah is unlike anything or anyone and certainly has no son.

Allah says, "Such was Jesus, son of Mary. It befits not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son." 19:34

Jesus peace be upon him and his mother fled to Egypt to escape the persecution of those who disbelieved. A kind and wealthy man took them in. He had a house for the poor the sick. The man had some gold hidden in the walls of his house. One day this went missing. Jesus peace be upon him by will of Allah, knew what had happened and he told the owner of the gold that two men had stolen it, one was a blind man and the other was crippled. They were amazed as to how Jesus could possibly know that they had stolen the Gold and they asked how did he know such a thing? Jesus replied that this was from Allah.

The miracles given to Jesus peace be upon him, by Allah, appealed to the peoples interests at that time, and as medicine was widespread Jesus peace be upon him showed them something no medicine could do, he restored the sight of a blind man by the will of Allah. Allah the almighty tells us in the Quran

"And He (Allah) will teach him (Jesus) the Book and Al-Hikmah (wisdom), the Torah and the Gospel." 3:48 Quran

"And will make him a Messenger to the Children of Israel (saying) "I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, that I design for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah's leave; and I heal him who has born blind, and the leper, and I bring the dead to life by Allah's leave. And I inform you of what you eat, and what you store in your houses. Surely, therein is a sign for you, if you believe." 3:49 Quran

As Jesus travelled all through the area of as sham, which has now been broken down into Syria, Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine, teaching the people the word of Allah. He showed them amazing miracles, He made a bird from clay and breathed on it and it came to life and flew away but still this wasn't enough for the children of Israel. They still didn't want to accept Jesus' message. They took Jesus peace be upon him, to a graveyard and told him to bring a man back to life, and so by the will of Allah it was done. When the man was alive again he asked Jesus why had he been brought back, and if he could return to the grave, as that was now his place. Jesus made duaa to Allah and so it was done.

Jesus peace be upon him, passed by a woman who was crying by a grave and he asked her who was buried there she told him it was her daughter and that she wished her daughter could be brought back again. Jesus told the woman that she should listen to his message and trust in Allah. Jesus peace be upon him then commanded the girl to rise up out of her grave, he said it three times and then the girl came up out of her grave, and was alive again. The girl had thought that it was the judgement day, and she was so horrified that her hair turned white. She asked if she could return to the grave as she was terrified to go through the pain of death once again and so Jesus peace be upon him made duaa (prayer) and Allah returned the girl to her grave again

.Jesus peace be upon him taught people the message of Allah with kindness and gentleness, he was a humble man he dressed and ate simply, he called the people to worship Allah. Jesus peace be upon him, told the people that after him another messenger was to be expected and that his name would be Ahmed. This is also the name of the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him..

"And (remember) when Jesus, son of Maryam, said: "Oh children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allah unto you, confirming the Torah (which came) before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad. But when Ahmed (Muhammad) came to them with clear proofs, they said: "This is plain magic!" 61:6 Quran

Jesus peace be upon him went to Al-Nasirah in Palestine and many people there became Muslims they said

"We are the helpers of Allah; we believe in Allah, and bear witness that we are Muslims (we submit to Allah)" 3:52 Quran

Those who followed the teachings of Jesus peace be upon him are called Al-Nasara in Arabic. Scholars say this is because they were known as being from this town al-Nasirah. It is said that most of followers of Jesus's message came from this town. Many of the jews didn't believe in the message of Jesus peace be upon him and still to this day they do not accept Jesus as the prophet of Allah and the messiah. Allah says in the Quran,

"Then a group of the Children of Israel believed and a group disbelieved." 61:14 Quran

Even some of the followers of Jesus asked him to show them a miracle, Jesus peace be upon him told them to fear Allah, but so that their faith in Allah would be fortified Allah granted Jesus a miracle.

"Remember) when al-Hawiryoon (the disciples) said: "Oh Jesus, son of Maryam! Can your Lord send down to us a table spread (with food) from heaven?"

Jesus said, "Fear Allah, if you are indeed believers." They said "We wish to eat thereof and to satisfy our hearts (to be stronger in faith), and to know what you have indeed told us the truth and that we ourselves be its witnesses."

Then Jesus, son of Maryam, said: "Oh Allah, our Lord! Send us from that heaven a table spread (with food) that there may be for us - for the first and the last of us - a festival and a sign from You; and provide us with sustenance, for You are the best of sustainers.

"Allah said: " I am going to send it down to you, but if any of you after that disbelieves, then I will punish him with a torment such as I have not inflicted on anyone among (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinn) " 5:112-115 Quran

Allah sent down a table filled with wonderful foods and as the people ate, more food would appear, but some people became greedy and would take more than they needed and hoard the food and they were turned into pigs and monkeys by Allah.

The Muslims who accepted Jesus peace be upon him as a messenger of Allah were many, and the jews were becoming uneasy about this, asd they were afraid they would loose their hold their positions of power. They went to the rulers of Palestine and the Romans making false claims against Jesus peace be upon him. Allah's angel Gibriel warned Jesus,Peace be upon him, and told him that they planned to kill him.

Jesus` mission was incomplete in that he would return again as the messiah and he was not to die that day.

"And they (disbelievers) plotted (to kill Jesus), and Allah planned too. And Allah is the best of those who plot. " 3:54 Quran

"And because of their saying (in boast), "We killed the Messiah Jesus, son of Maryam, the Messenger of Allah, but they killed him not, nor crucified him..

.. and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture, for certainly they killed him not! Jesus son of Mary " 4:157 Quran

"And when Allah said oh Jesus! I will take you and raise you to myself and clear you (of the falsified statement that Jesus is son of Allah) of those who disbelieve." 3:55 Quran

"He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. And he shall be of the righteous." 3:46 Quran

Jesus was taken up into the heavens by Allah, and he was known at this time to be 33 years old when this happened. The word kahlan used here, in Arabic means the peak of youth that a person attains at age 33. This is also understood to be the age that people will enter jannah.

After Jesus peace be upon him departed, the muslims began to be so persecuted, tortured and oppressed by the jews and the Romans until none of them remained alive. Confusion came and the people were caught up in the mixtures of truth and untruth into Jesus's teachings. Some people even lied and said that Jesus peace be upon him was Allah's son, or that Jesus was Allah, or that he had been crucified and had died. But this is all untrue as we know Jesus peace be upon him did not die, he is not dead and he will come again to the earth to uphold the truth. Allah says in the Quran

"Surely, in disbelief are they who say that Allah is the Messiah, son of Maryam" Say: "Who then has the least power against Allah, if He were to destroy the Messiah, son of Maryam, his mother, and all those who are on the earth together?" And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them. He creates what He wills. And Allah is Able to do all things." 5:17 Quran

"Those infidels who say: Allah is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One God. If they desist not from their words (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them." 5:73 Quran

"O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: nor say of Allah anything but the truth. Al-Masiah 'Jesus the son of Maryam was (no more than) A Messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Maryam, and a Spirit proceeding from Him. so believe in Allah and His Messengers. Say not "Trinity" desist! it will be better for you! for Allah is One God! glory be to Him! (far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs." 4:171 Quran

"The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Al-Masiah the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the Unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth! " 9:30 Quran

Jesus peace be upon him was described in a hadith, in sunan Abu Dawood by the prophet Muhammad salallahu alleyhi wa salam, who saw him in the night of the isra walmirajh.

"He had a fair complexion with a ruddiness to his skin. His complexion was pure and radiant, as if glowing with beads of water. Jesus alayhe salam was neither tall nor short. His hair was described as neither curly nor straight, with a soft texture. It was long and reached halfway down his back, glistening as if it were wet or oiled. His physical frame was well built with broad chest and shoulders. Though he was full figured, he was neither fat nor thin."

Jesus will return to complete his mission on the earth. He will ascend from the sky carried by two angels, one either side of him, to a masjid in Damascus at the time of the Fajr salat. The imam will be Muhammad ibn Abdullah the Mahdi, and he will ask Jesus, if he would lead the salat but he will say " no I am just one of the Muslims " and he will pray with them, and continue to uphold the religion of complete submission to the will of Allah.

The Quran being recited

Allah the almighty says in Al Quran

Allâh! Lâ ilahâ illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists.

It is He Who has sent down the Book (the Qur'ân) to you (Muhammad SAW) with truth, confirming what came before it. And he sent down the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel).

Aforetime, as a guidance to mankind, And He sent down the criterion [of judgement between right and wrong (this Qur'ân)]. Truly, those who disbelieve in the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allâh, for them there is a severe torment; and Allâh is All-Mighty, All-Able of Retribution.

Truly, nothing is hidden from Allâh, in the earth or in the heavens.

He it is Who shapes you in the wombs as He pleases. Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

Surah Imran

ayat 2-6

  Hadith

Say (O Muhammad to mankind): "How do you worship besides Allâh something which has no power either to harm or to benefit you? But it is Allâh Who is the AllHearer, AllKnower."

Say (O Muhammad): "O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Exceed not the limits in your religion (by believing in something) other than the truth, and do not follow the vain desires of people who went astray in times gone by, and who misled many, and strayed (themselves) from the Right Path."

Those among the Children of Israel who disbelieved were cursed by the tongue of Dawûd (David) and 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). That was because they disobeyed (Allâh and the Messengers) and were ever transgressing beyond bounds.

They used not to forbid one another from the Munkar (wrong, evildoing, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.) which they committed. Vile indeed was what they used to do.

You see many of them taking the disbelievers as their Auliyâ' (protectors and helpers). Evil indeed is that which their ownselves have sent forward before them, for that (reason) Allâh's Wrath fell upon them and in torment they will abide.

And had they believed in Allâh, and in the Prophet (Muhammad) and in what has been revealed to him, never would they have taken them (the disbelievers) as Auliyâ' (protectors and helpers), but many of them are the Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh).

Verily, you will find the strongest among men in enmity to the believers (Muslims) the Jews and those who are Al-Mushrikûn (see V.2:105), and you will find the nearest in love to the believers (Muslims) those who say: "We are Christians." That is because amongst them are priests and monks, and they are not proud.

And when they (who call themselves Christians) listen to what has been sent down to the Messenger (Muhammad), you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of the truth they have recognised. They say: "Our Lord! We believe; so write us down among the witnesses.

"And why should we not believe in Allâh and in that which has come to us of the truth (Islâmic Monotheism)? And we wish that our Lord will admit us (in Paradise on the Day of Resurrection) along with the righteous people (Prophet Muhammad and his Companions

So because of what they said, Allâh rewarded them Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise), they will abide therein forever. Such is the reward of gooddoers.

surah 5 : ayat 76-85
